Mostly the germs enter our body through our throat and nose. Mucus membrane is lined up with number of blood vessels. When the blood vessels expand there is a swelling in the mucus membrane which ultimately results into the nasal congestion.
Usually infection of ear can be the ultimate result of the nasal congestion. Varieties of causes are there for nasal obstruction. The condition of nasal blockage varies in a wide range from mild annoyance to a life threatening condition. Especially in the infants the condition of nasal obstruction may be life threatening. Natural Sinus Relief - How to Cure Sinus Congestion Naturally

6:50:00 AM
Victims of chronic Sinus Congestion may have the following symptoms for 12 weeks or more: facial pain/pressure, facial congestion/fullness, nasal obstruction/blockage, thick nasal discharge/discolored post-nasal drainage, pus in the nasal cavity, and at times, fever. They may also have headache, bad breath, and fatigue. Typically this condition is the result of several causes combined. While you can't necessarily eliminate the causes, you can be proactive about natural sinus relief solutions and take a few preventative measures that will decrease the occurrence of sinus congestion.
However, allergies can cause sinus congestion, which can lead to headache pain. If you have allergies, the treatment for your allergy will not relieve your headache pain. Some sinus congestion is caused by food allergies. Milk and wheat are both common sinus offenders that cause allergic reactions and boost mucus production. Generally, a sinusitis condition causes nasal congestion and facial pain and pressure, will last more than ten days, and could also cause a thick yellow green mucus discharge, requiring sinus infection treatment.
Many people seek natural sinus relief because they react poorly to the ingredients in decongestant and antihistamine medications. Why? Because usually decongestant nasal sprays should only be used for short periods of time, or they can make congestion worse. Using decongestants when you have an upper respiratory infection may reduce your risk of developing sinusitis.
Antihistamines can be effective for treatment of allergy but when it comes to sinus drainage, the medication actually thicken the mucus, hampering sinus drainage and could lead to an infection.
Sinus congestion is harmful but if you take care of it in a proper manner you can easily get rid of it. One of the simple natural sinus relief without any side effects that you can do at home is using a steam inhalation. You should inhale steam vapors periodically. It is very helpful to steep some eucalyptus in a large pot of boiling water and use as an inhalant to unblock nasal passages. Add a few drops of eucalyptus essential oil at the bottom of a large bowl and carefully fill it with steaming hot water at least three to four times a day for 2-3 minutes. Quickly put a towel over your head and carefully lean over the bowl to breathe in the vapors.
There are numerous reasons why you should combine steam inhalation and eucalyptus ingredients to treat sinus problems naturally. Eucalyptus essential oil is probably the most effective of all sinus infection remedies. Researchers also discovered the highly concentrated extract of eucalyptus called Cineole is a powerful antiseptic properties. This convenient remedy will break up mucus congestion and improve drainage, thus eliminating the block and relieving pressure. This will also soothe inflammation, which will ease sinus pain and provide effective natural sinus relief.-By

Proven Home Remedy For Sinus Infection That Works

5:18:00 AM
Before I go on to describe the most effective and proven natural home remedy for sinus infection, we must first understand the anatomy of the sinuses and the major cause leading to a sinus infection.
A sinus is a hollow space in the body located within the bones of the head encircling the nose. The frontal sinuses are over the eyes, the maxillary sinuses are inside the cheekbone, the ethmoid sinuses are in-between the eyes and behind the nose-bridge and the sphenoid sinuses are behind these ethmoids-that is the upper nasal area and at the back of the eyes.
These sinuses are lined with a continuous soft tissue-like membrane. This lining of the sinuses provide a very important and essential function in that they protect the body from dust, pollens, other foreign matter and pathogens in the air we breathe in. The surface of this lining is densely populated with microscopic hair-like cilia. The cilia act like oars to drain the mucus produced naturally by the body. These mucus, together with trapped allergens and pathogens, are then flushed out to the stomach via the back of the throat on a regular basis. You may regard this as the body's natural waste removal system. In this way, your body prevents bacteria load from building up. Healthy and proper cilia function is essential for good nasal health. When mucociliary function becomes dysfunctional, inflammation of the mucous membranes results. This leads to an abnormal buildup of mucus in the sinus cavities. Henceforth, the bacterial load within the sinuses increases leading to a sinus infection for those with a weakened immune system.
The only way to prevent a sinus infection is to assist our body to rid these pathogens quickly before they have a chance to proliferate within the sinuses. This is done by flushing out the sinuses with saline solution before a sinus infection can occur. Nasal irrigation is the name of this process.
So which is the best home remedy for sinus infection? Many have used a product called a neti pot. Some have found this to be useful while others find it cumbersome and difficult to use effectively. In cases where there is severe nasal congestion, the flow of saline solution from the neti pot may be disrupted and nasal irrigation cannot continue.
The most effective home remedy for sinus infection requires you to have the following items:
1. A teaspoon.
2. A 10 ml plastic syringe WITHOUT needle.
3. A small cup.
4. 100gm of Sodium Bicarbonate powder.
The steps taken to perform nasal irrigation are as follows:
1. Mix 1 teaspoonful of the powder into a small cup of water and stir the mixture. Fill up the syringe with the sodium bicarbonate solution by pulling back the plunger of the syringe after immersing it into the solution.
2. Lower your head into the basin and tilt your head to one side and slightly down toward the basin. Ideally, the chin and the forehead should be level with each other.
3. Place the opening of syringe into the upper nostril creating a complete seal and inject the saline solution slowly and gently so that it flows into that nostril, through the nasal passages, and out the other lower nostril. You may either hold your breath while doing this or breathe through your mouth, whichever is more comfortable to you.
4. Expel the remaining saline solution and mucus trapped in the nasal passages by blowing them out of the nostrils. For best results, it would be better to keep one nostril shut and blow out the contents through the other and repeat.
5. Repeat the entire process by alternately tilting the head to the other side and inserting the syringe through the other nostril. When most of the solution is used up, pour what is left into the mouth and gargle for a minute before spitting the contents out.
This nasal irrigation method works well even for those with blocked sinuses caused by the common cold or influenza. Regular cleansing of the sinuses via this nasal irrigation method can help those who have contracted sinus infection recover quickly. To prevent recurrent sinus infection, nasal irrigation must be done on a regular basis.

Congested Sinus and Ringing Ears - Two Sides of the Same Coin

5:03:00 AM
Stuffy and congested sinuses and nasal discharge are all common problems affecting millions of individuals. However, for those of us who suffer from a constant ringing, buzzing or popping sound in their ears, on top of stuffy and congested sinuses, understand why some people say the unrelenting ringing noise drives them crazy. It is enough of a problem to deal with the uncomfortable feeling caused by congestion, but add sinus ringing ears on top of the congestion and it makes the situation much worse.
Sinus ringing ears is a cause of distress for many people. Yes, your stuffy nose and that uncomfortable sinus headache could well be contributing factors for the ringing sound that you hear echoing in your ears. In many ways, congested sinus cavities and ringing ears are simply two different sides of the same coin.
The Reality of Ringing in the Ears
Whether it is a crackling noise, a low humming sound or an insistent ringing or buzzing noise that you hear, the continual sounds can make you feel as though you are on the brink of insanity. The constant noise cannot only affect your ability to concentrate and sleep but it can negatively impact the overall quality of your life.
For those who suffer from sinus congestion, ringing ears can often be a frustrating side effect for which there seems to be no way to alleviate the ringing. What makes matters worse is that many times doctors can find no external cause for the continual sounds you are hearing and family members may tell you that the noises are only in your mind.
The truth is, you are not imagining these sounds and you certainly are not losing touch with reality. Ringing in the ears is a real problem for millions of people and the medical term for the buzzing or ringing sound that echoes in your ears for no apparent reason is Tinnitus. When looking for relief it is important that you do not lose sight of the fact that those annoying sounds could be the result of congestion and pressure in your sinus cavities.
Facts about Sinus Congestion
Did you know that sinus congestion could cause problems such as sinus ringing ears? If your sinuses become infected and inflammation is present, the swelling that occurs will affect the ability of your sinus to drain. The lack of drainage from your sinuses will cause pressure to build in and around the ears causing you to hear the ringing sounds. Sinus problems can result when the interior linings of your sinus cavities become irritated. This irritation can be the result of a bacterial or viral infection or allergies.
As your sinuses swell, the drainage openings are unable to operate effectively creating pressure in the Eustachian tube. This build up of pressure, along with the blocked airways is responsible for that continual ringing or buzzing sound that you are hearing. Everyone responds differently to sinus pressure and some people may not even be aware of ringing ear sounds, especially if the sounds are very faint.
The blocked Eustachian tube and the stuffy sinus cavities begin to fill with air and liquid creating an echo chamber. Sounds such as the beating of your heart or blood rushing through your veins become magnified and resemble the ringing, crackling and humming noises that you hear.
Take Action
For some people the ringing sounds they hear are extremely aggravating and all they can think about is how to find a cure. These people find it difficult to concentrate due to the stuffiness in their sinus cavity and the magnification of the ringing noises they constantly hear. A healthy diet and natural herbal supplements can often help prevent sinus woes in the first place. These preventative steps are a way to take action against irritated sinus, ringing ears and congestion before these symptoms are ever a reality in your life.
Finding relief for sinus ringing ears
The following are steps you can take to help diminish, or eliminate, those ringing ear noises.
  • A build up of earwax has been identified as a cause or ringing in the ears. The safest way to have your ears cleaned is have your doctor remove the wax from your ears. However, there are earwax removal kits that you can purchase that will help you eliminate excess earwax safely.

  • Chewing gum can help some people relieve pressure buildup in their ears. Gum chewing works to exercise the jaw muscles and this activity will also help relieve air trapped in the middle ear. The chewing motions can help equalize the pressure on both sides of the eardrum. If you have sinus ringing ears and pressure inside your ears you might want to see if chewing some gum will resolve the problem.

  • White noise from a fan, air conditioning unit or even a radio that is on a very low sound setting can help distract your mind and keep you from focusing on the noises. While white noise is not a cure, it can still be very useful.

  • Saline sprays for the nose may give you some relief. Doctors often suggest that their patients use a decongestant or a mild antihistamine when the complaint involves sinus ringing ears or other signs of congested sinus cavities.

  • Drinking herbal teas or having access to a room humidifier can also help relieve sinus based problems.

Blocked Sinus - 4 Ways To Clear It Naturally

3:23:00 AM
Blocked sinus can be a frustrating and irritating condition. It may cause difficulty in eating or sleeping. Blocked sinus can lead to a sinus headache and even equilibrium problems when the blockage reaches the ear. While some prescription medications may provide some relief, natural home remedies can be effective in clearing a blocked sinus. The latter do not have any ill side effects, are non-habit forming and can be used as often as needed.
Here are 4 natural ways to clear a blocked sinus from the comfort of your home.
1. Increase humidity
Most sinus blockages and infections occur in the winter months. This is the time of year when heating is on and the doors and windows are closed, making the inside air very dry.
The easiest fix to this problem is to increase humidity in the air. You can use a whole-house humidifier that attaches to your furnace. If that is not an option you can use small room-sized humidifiers throughout the house. These are inexpensive and can greatly improve humidity levels. Be sure to keep the water filled and clean the containers often to avoid bacteria and mold build up.
Alternatively, boil a large pot of water on the stove. The vapor from the boiling water adds humidity to the air. Another quick fix is to sit in the bathroom with the hot shower running for 20 minutes or so.
2. Nasal irrigation
This is a method of running sterile water into the nose. You can buy a small irrigation pot from a health food store and follow the package directions. If you need something a little more portable try using a saline nasal spray. Nasal irrigation works by cleaning the nasal passages and sinus cavities of mucus and thereby, assisting the natural cleaning system of your nasal passages.
3. Warm compress
A wet towel or washcloth can be heated and placed on the face, over the nose and sinuses. This will help clear the sinus cavities by loosening the mucus so that it will drain out more easily. You can purchase warm compress that can be heated in the microwave, from health food stores or pharmacies.
4. Eucalyptus or menthol
Eucalyptus or menthol oil can be used in a steam inhalation to relieve nasal and sinus congestion, in draining mucus and relieving pressure. Menthol is derived from peppermint. It is a natural anesthetic, germicidal and the vapors are an incredible decongestant. Eucalyptus oil is a powerful antiseptic with antibacterial properties. To create an eucalyptus steam inhalation, pour some boiling water into a bowl and add 3 drops of eucalyptus oil. Look down, with your head over the bowl. Cover your head and bowl with a towel. Close your eyes and inhale the steam slowly for 10 minutes.
You can also put a few drops of eucalyptus on a handkerchief and sniff periodically.
Each of these natural remedies can be used alone or in combination with each other to relieve your blocked sinus. They do not cause complications or harmful effects even if used in conjunction with drug medications.
