Managing Hypertension And Neck Pain

12:08:00 PM
If you have ever felt like your blood was going to boil and you could just barely rotate your neck, you probably have a condition referred to as neck pain and hypertension. The catch 22 is that you can feel neck pain but you can not normally detect high blood pressure without a blood pressure monitoring device.

Blood Pressure

On an average day your heart will beat about 100,000 times to pump 2,000 gallons of blood through your veins and blood vessels. The force of the blood against the inside walls of your vessels, plus your vessels resistance to blood flow, create blood pressure.

It makes sense that the fewer obstacles you have restricting the blood flow, the lower the pressure will be; very similar to what happens when you flush the toilet. Medical experts agree that the normal blood pressure for adults is less than 120/80.

Hypertension

Hypertension can be described and categorized as either essential or secondary. Essential hypertension indicates that no specific medical cause can be found to explain a patient's condition. Secondary hypertension indicates that the high blood pressure is a result of another condition such as kidney disease or certain tumors.
Persistent hypertension is one of the risk factors for strokes, heart attacks, heart failure, and arterial aneurysm and is a leading cause of chronic renal failure. Even a moderate elevation of arterial blood pressure leads to shortened life expectancy.

Treatment

Around 70 million people in the United States suffer from neck pain hypertension, and around one-third of them do not have a clue that they need treatment. By having a physical examination one time a year, any increase in your blood pressure will be recognized and treated, along with your stiff neck.

After it has been established that you are suffering from neck pain hypertension, you and your doctor need to establish a realistic blood pressure goal for yourself just like you would do if you were trying to lose weight.

At this point you should purchase a home blood pressure monitor. By charting your blood pressure on an hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly basis, certain trends may jump out at you that will help you attack your stiff neck pain and hypertension.

Medication

For a majority of people who suffer from neck pain and hypertension, making changes in their diet and incorporating daily exercise into their routine makes them healthy again. Those in the minority will require some form of medication.By:

How to Minify Problem Caused by Sweat

7:00:00 AM
Sweating is a natural process of the body. Human body needs to sweat to maintain the normal temperature. But when the level of sweating becomes excessive, the condition is known as hyperhidrosis. However, this condition can be treated if you have the right knowledge of how to deal with problem sweat. In order to deal with the problem of excessive sweating, it is very important to know the causes behind it.

The condition of excessive sweating is linked with over activity in the sympathetic nervous system that controls the release of Acetylcholine, a kind of neurotransmitter that tells the body to sweat. The over-reaction of this Acetylcholine produces excess sweat. Some of the factors that contribute to excess sweating problem are obesity, poor diet, anxiety etc.

But there are solutions that will help you to minify problem caused by sweat. But you must remember that you should utilize these solutions properly to get the best results.

Try Antiperspirants: This is the first step that you should utilize to beat problem sweat. Antiperspirants contain aluminum chloride that helps to block sweat ducts to prevent excessive sweating. However, application and timing is very important. Apply them twice a day i.e. morning and evening to allow body to fight effectively. The best time to apply is after bath. However, make sure that antiperspirants are not applied after shaving as the skin pores tend to remain open. Make sure that you are using antiperspirants with mild-formula base. This will not only protect your skin, but help your body to fight against sweat.

Keep a Watch on your Diet: It is myth that only people who is over-weight tends to suffer from problem sweat or hyperhidrosis. But in reality, even if you have normal body weight, your diet might contribute to excessive sweat problems. So, it is advisable to keep a close watch on what you are eating. Include healthy, natural and unprocessed food in your diet like fruits, leafy vegetables, dairy products and fish. Regular intake of these foods makes the immune system of the body powerful and helps body to deal with problem sweat naturally. Try to avoid spicy and junk food and drink plenty of water instead of cola based drinks.

Wear Comfortable Fabrics: Sweating is a natural process that helps the body to keep cool. But sometimes due to obstructions body suffers from problem sweat. In order to avoid this kind of problems it is best to wear light, comfortable and breathable clothes that allow natural air to pass through body. Cotton clothes fits into this criteria perfectly. Polyester and nylon fabric prevents ventilation and only contributes to trap sweat to produce body odor.

Use Clothing Shields: Sweat liners or clothing shields help a lot to fight with problem sweat. Made from pure cotton material, these clothing shields not only absorb sweat from the body, but also help to maintain the right level of ventilation. You can use washable cotton shields for best protection at an affordable rate. Disposable shields are equally helpful to minimize problem sweat.

Causes Of Blood In The Urine

10:12:00 AM
Blood in the urine is a common problem. The medical term for red blood cells in the urine is hematuria. Sometimes blood in the urine is a sign of a serious problem in the urinary tract, while other times it is not serious and requires no treatment. Only after a thorough evaluation by a healthcare provider should blood in the urine be attributed to a non-serious cause.

A trace amount of blood in your urine is normal. The average person with a healthy urinary tract excretes about 1 million red blood cells (RBC) in the urine each day. This amount of blood is not visible. This is not considered to be hematuria.

Women develop hematuria more than men because women are more likely to have urinary tract infections.
Older adults, especially men, have hematuria more often than younger people because they are more likely to take medications that can irritate the urinary tract, have enlargement of the prostate, or cancer.

At times, urine can be colored pink, red, or brown for reasons that have nothing to do with bleeding in the urinary tract. It may be simply due to food you consumed for example beets, berries, rhubarb. Can also be due to Food coloring, certain laxatives and pain medications, or menstrual blood.

An abnormal amount of blood in the urine can be acute (new, occurring suddenly) or chronic (ongoing, long term). Acute hematuria can occur just once, or it can occur many times.

Sometimes the urine can appear with a color indicating hematuria, but the urine actually does not contain red blood cells, but rather is discolored by medications or foods.

Up to 10% of people have hematuria. About 3% of people develop gross hematuria.

Blood in the urine is not always visible. If the amount of blood is small, the urine looks normal. This is called microscopic hematuria because the blood cells are visible only under a microscope. Typically, this is discovered when the patient has a urine test for some other reason.

When there is enough blood to be visible, the urine may look pinkish, red, or smoky brown (like tea or cola). This is called gross or frank hematuria. It takes very little blood in urine to be visible about one-fifth of a teaspoon in a half quart of urine.

However, lets make this clear that Hematuria has many different causes. Blood in the urine can come from any condition that results in infection, inflammation, or injury to the urinary system. Also, usually, microscopic hematuria indicates damage to the upper urinary tract (kidneys), while visible blood indicates damage to the lower tract (ureters, bladder, or urethra). But this is not always the case.

The most common causes of Hematuria in people younger than 40 years of age are kidney stones or urinary tract infections. These are likely to occur in older people as well, but cancers of the kidney, bladder, and prostate become a more common concern in people older than 40 years of age. Not only one of these conditions but several conditions causing hematuria may exist at the same time.

Sometimes no cause is found for blood in the urine. If serious conditions such as cancer, kidney disease, and other chronic diseases that cause kidney damage or bleeding are ruled out, the cause is usually not serious. The hematuria will probably go away by itself or continue as a chronic condition without doing harm. Any changes should immediately trigger a return visit and evaluation by your healthcare provider.

Some causes of hematuria are serious, others are not. Your healthcare provider will perform tests to help tell the difference. It is important that you seek medical help as soon as possible.

Similarly, some well-known causes of blood in the urine include Kidney stones, infections of the urinary tract or genitals, cancer of the kidney, bladder, or prostate, blood clotting disorders, Kidney disease, injury to the upper or lower urinary tract, as in a car accident or a bad fall, blockage of the urinary tract, usually the urethra by a stone, a tumor, a narrowing of the opening (stricture), or a compression from surrounding structures and medications.

The blockage of urinary is also caused by antibiotics, analgesics such as aspirin, anticoagulants (blood thinners such as warfarin, (Coumadin)), phenytoin (Dilantin), quinine (Quinerva, Quinite, QM260), benign (noncancerous) enlargement of the prostate known as benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH), a common condition in older men, chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and sickle cell anemia, Viral infections, Inflammation of the kidney usually of unknown cause, and Strenuous exercise like running which results in repeated jarring of the bladder.

Milk Can Sabotage Your Diet

7:23:00 AM
Another food recommended for its nutritional advantages without consideration for the harm it can cause is milk. Dr. Duane Alexander, director of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, is quoted as saying, "Without including milk in the diet, it is nearly impossible to meet calcium needs." Some medical authorities, concerned about the deficiency of calcium in the diets of young people, believe that drinking more milk is the solution. A national survey revealed that only 13.5 percent of girls and 35.3 percent of boys between the ages of twelve and nineteen consume the recommended amount of calcium for teenagers: 1,300 mg of calcium daily.
Teenagers may be short on calcium, but they need to satisfy their calcium requirements by eating calcium-rich foods rather than by drinking milk because milk puts them at risk for developing a serious, sometimes fatal health problem later on in life. Milk causes a spurt in growth by stimulating the release of the human growth hormone somatotropin. This increases the teenager's chance of getting cancer as an adult if his or her milk-drinking habit causes growth above a certain height. A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association and conducted at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and the Harvard School of Public Health found that taller people in general were more likely to get both pancreatic and colon cancer. Dr. Dominique Michaud, an investigator at the National Cancer Institute, states that this increase in cancer risk is related to exposure to the growth hormone in milk during adolescence. (This is the growth hormone that occurs naturally in milk, not the hormone added by dairy farmers to increase cows' production of milk.)
With each generation in America and elsewhere growing taller than the previous one because of increased milk consumption, and therefore increasingly likely to get cancer -- as well as diabetes and calcium-hardened tissues -- it's time that the human body's calcium requirements were satisfied by eating foods that are high in calcium, such as yogurt, cheese, and root vegetables, rather than milk. (Yogurt and cheese, although made from milk, have been chemically altered by fermentation, so, unlike milk, they don't stimulate the release of somatotropin, the human growth hormone.)
Not only should teenagers avoid drinking milk because of the health risks involved when they become adults but also because the processed milk available in supermarkets today won't satisfy their calcium needs. Standard brands of milk produced by agribusinesses have been heated, for the purposes of extending their shelf life, to a temperature of 212 degrees Fahrenheit. Pasteurization at such high heat destroys the acidity in milk; without it calcium can't be broken down, and undigested calcium can't be absorbed and utilized by the cells.
Drinking commercially pasteurized milk not only fails to satisfy the body's calcium requirements, but because undigested calcium particles are not assimilated, adults who drink as little as two glasses of milk a day risk a buildup of excessive levels of calcium in their bodies. Yet a recent revision in the guidelines of the U.S. government's Food Pyramid, published on April 20, 2005, in the New York Times, ignores this information by recommending three cups of milk for adults daily, one more cup than it recommends for children. In adults who drink milk every day, the calcium is apt to be deposited in the wrong places, for example, in the reproductive organs, in the bile duct, or in the ureters, the ducts that convey urine from the kidneys to the bladder.
The well-known downside of drinking milk is that it induces the mucus-secreting glands to overproduce. Excessive amounts of mucus cause unfriendly germs to multiply faster because it's a food they thrive on.
But far more dangerous to health than excess mucus is the elevation of blood insulin that the consumption of milk by adults causes. Excessive insulin in the blood makes glucose levels drop drastically. This gives rise to binge eating, which brings the blood sugar back up; however, because blood sugar goes too high, insulin again rises excessively and once again causes the blood sugar to plummet. These wild swings in blood sugar give rise to hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), and when the overproducing insulin glands stop working, the hypoglycemic individual becomes diabetic.
Elevated insulin levels have also been implicated in the development of cancer. Women with breast cancer who have high insulin levels are six times more likely to have a recurrence.
The deficiency of a nutrient in the body is not always the result of a diet that is lacking in that particular nutrient. Calcium deficiency is a case in point. The body can be deficient in calcium even though the diet meets the calcium requirements if the individual lacks vitamin D or the mineral boron. Both are necessary for the absorption and utilization of calcium.
Vitamin D is found only in the fat in meat, milk products, and seafood. The low-fat diet, by depriving the body of vitamin D, could be responsible for the widespread calcium deficiency in teenagers. In a study published in The Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, 24 percent of the 307 teenagers tested had a severe deficiency of vitamin D, and 42 percent were slightly deficient in the vitamin.
The only way to overcome nutrient deficiencies is to eat the foods that are indicated for your metabolic type. The metabolically appropriate diet is geared toward normalizing mineral levels in the body and providing the fats and oils needed to assimilate minerals. The danger to health caused by consuming large quantities of milk to overcome a calcium shortage make it clear that foods should not be evaluated solely on the basis of their nutrient values but also on what effect they have on long-term health.By

Six Techniques You May Use To Remove Tonsil Stones

12:30:00 PM
Tonsilloliths or tonsil stones are hard, yellow-colored, gland like structures inside the back of your throat. They develop when mucous from nasal pathways, dead cells, food particles and bacteria accumulate inside the tonsil crypts. Tiny tonsilloliths are barely detectable and are generally expelled or swallowed in a cough. As they develop bigger, they start to induce discomfort or irritation. Please read on for some guidelines on tonsil stone removal without the need of a physician's assistance.
Tongue Trick
It's normally possible to weaken tonsil stones without having the need to put something within your mouth. Rubbing or massaging the tongue towards the back of your throat may properly perform the trick. You could also try holding the head back, elevating your tongue against the roof of the mouth and swallowing.
Cotton Swab
One common technique to remove a tonsil stone is to push a finger or moistened natural cotton swab towards the base of the stone and force it upwards to squeeze it out. The drawback to performing this can be the fact that it could activate the gag reflex. In order to prevent this, it is possible to try first coating the tonsil with an anaesthetic-throat-spray.
Carbonated drink
Gargling every day with water and vinegar solution may possibly well work to eliminate the stones eventually. You may also try drinking several glasses of sugar free, fizzy beverages regularly. The fizzing activity can assist to ease the tonsilloliths from their crypts.
Ear-curette
For those who have a manicure set, you can discover a tool handy for dislodging tonsil stones. An ear-curette appears to be like a little superficial scoop with an extended handle. It is actually intended to get rid of ear wax. Its size and shape is suitable for extracting tonsilloliths from the tonsil-crypts.
Waterpik Irrigator/Pressurized Water.
You may try out utilizing pressurized water to flush out stones from its crypts. Basically, fill a clear turkey baster with standard water, position it at the tonsil and press the bulb to launch a jet of water. Should you happen to get a Waterpik-irrigator, you could be somewhat extra precise. Make certain to adjust it for the smallest setting in the event you wish not to result in harm to the tonsils.
Medicine Dropper
A medicine dropper could also be employed to remove tiny tonsil stones through suction. Initially, make use of the dropper to coat the tonsils with brine. This tends to make the stones substantially easier to view. Next, press the bulb of the dropper and point its tip towards the stone. Soon after you launch the bulb, the stone ought to become drawn into the tube.
If you attempt any other home treatment solutions for removing tonsil stones, use common sense. Under no circumstances should you put tiny, sharp things in to the mouth. A tooth pick or needle may not just severely hurt your tonsils; it could turn out to be harmful if lodged inside the throat. Never ever attempt any approach that may damage fragile tissues. by Mark Weathers

How to Get Rid of Herpes

6:59:00 AM
What is Herpes?
It is a very hard to control virus; the name herpes comes from a Greek word 'herpein' that means to creek. These viruses have DNA that are double stranded and only infect humans.
Two types of this virus exists, herpes simplex virus type-1 (HSV-1) and herpes simplex virus type-2 (HSV-2)
You can be infected by both. The general belief surrounding them is that HSV-1 infection occurs in mouth while HSV-2 infection takes place in the genitals. Most people do not know that herpes simplex viruses exist in different forms, which, though caused by the same strain, are not all spread through sex. Newborns are also capable of acquiring herpes through either their mothers while conceiving or when handled by persons who has the virus.
Several herpes simplex strains are the main cause for different herpes infection which affects different body parts, the most common areas being the face and mouth (orofacial herpes), hands and toes (occasionally), and genitalia-genital herpes.
How to Get Rid of Herpes

Herpes is a contagious disease and it spreads dangerously and rapidly. It is unfortunately not easy to eliminate it completely. The plenty of new methods and techniques are capable of taking care of the problem.
Oral herpes can be taken care of using variety of topical creams and pain relievers, which help relieve you of the irritation and pain that come with it. But of most importance methods of getting rid of herpes include:
Immune system - the initial step to getting rid of herpes virus is by having a healthy immune system. Weak immune system nay result to herpes symptoms being prolonged causing more frequent outbreaks.
Antiviral medications - this is the current therapy. They have been proved effective in treating current outbreaks and curbing recurrent symptoms. It is however advisable to consult a medical practitioner in order to receive treatment, in case you are suffering from severe genital herpes. In addition, with correct methods you can be treated of genital herpes instantly and get cured off the symptoms in hours. Some people recommend taking salves or ointments, while some of the recommend medications are Famcyclovir, Acyclovir and Valacyclovir.
Immunotherapy - this is a new still being developed option of fighting herpes virus. It works by stimulating or boosting the immune system of the infected individual.
Homeopathy remedies and natural therapies- taking these remedies helps you treat genital herpes, and include tea tree oil, eucalyptus and aloevera among others. You will also need to include vitamin B supplements in your every day diet or eat foods rich in the vitamin such as whole grain, nutritional yeast, seaweeds and bee pollen.
Diet - change in your diet can also enable you reduce the frequency of outbreaks of herpes. Eating meals high in lysine and low in arginine help reduce herpes outbreaks. Foods considered perfect for a person suffering from herpes include: milk, chicken, beans and fish.
Vaccine - currently there are vaccines being researched that will help prevent the virus from being spread, but not cure a person who is already suffering from the disease.
The how to get rid of herpes tips mentioned above if well followed will help you the not infected not acquire it, and the already infected contain it by reducing it frequency of outbreak and the severity of its symptoms.By

Using Hydrogen Peroxide For Yeast Infection

4:14:00 PM
Whether you believe it or not, the use of hydrogen peroxide for yeast infection treatment has been proven to be true and quite effective. Vaginal yeast infection is among the more common conditions that women experience. In fact, according to statistics, about 75% of all women will be affected by the infection at some point. It may already be considered as an ordinary condition so don't be alarmed. You're not the only one who has the infection and certainly you will not be the last one.

Microorganisms that live on human skin and in the digestive track are the primary cause of yeast infection. Called Candida albicans, these microorganisms are naturally occurring and lives on the skin and inside your vagina. They are usually in small numbers, however some stimuli would trigger an overgrowth of Candida causeing the body to react resulting to an infection accompanied by itching, redness, irritations, and white or yellowish discharge.

Vaginal yeast infection is highly treatable so you don't have to be overly concern. There are already a number of commercially available drugs which are quite effective in treating yeast infection. Home remedies also are quite good if you know what you're doing. Hydrogen peroxide in particular is an easy home made solution to your yeast infection problems.

Just like Candida albicans hydrogen peroxide is already present in the vaginal areas. It's already there working its best in putting the yeast infectious microorganism at bay. However, due to certain conditions, the environment in the area becomes suddenly favorable to the growth of Candida. Hydrogen peroxide generally helps eliminate bacteria and fungal infections. It is a natural enemy of Candida and thus can be utilized fully as a treatment procedure for the infection.

Since our body produces only very little hydrogen peroxide, you can help by purchasing commercially available ones in the local supermarket or in your neighborhood pharmacy. What you can do is mix a teaspoon of ordinary 3% hydrogen peroxide to a cup of water and apply it on the affected areas. Because hydrogen peroxide is produced naturally by the body, the chemical does not harm your vagina or the general health of your body.

What makes hydrogen peroxide very effective against Candida is the fact that peroxides breaks down into water and oxygen upon application. The oxygen helps the chemical application kill the fungal yeast infection. You need to be careful, however, when creating your own mix of hydrogen peroxide treatment solution. Too much hydrogen peroxide in the solution can cause a burning sensation in the affected areas. This burning sensation may likely to occur especially if the area has been inflamed or the infection is already quite serious.

A teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide on a cup of water seems to be an okay and safe mix. So far no bad reactions or complaints have been noted against this mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water for treating yeast infection.

You need to understand, however, the using the mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water is not meant to be a sole treatment solution for yeast infection. Natural remedies like this one is more effective when combined with other forms of treatment like proper diet and the use of other treatment techniques like the use of garlic paste, yogurt, and cider vinegar and water mix.

Other times, the condition might have reached an already critical stage that hydrogen peroxide for yeast infection treatment is no longer advisable. You need to consult a doctor and employ several other methods of treatment to cure your yeast infections.

Causes of Frequent Urination in Men

11:22:00 AM
Many men experience an increase in the frequency at which they have to urinate as they get older. This is exceedingly common among older men. However, if you are a man that is "always having to go", don't just dismiss it as aging. There are many causes of frequent urination and the symptom needs to be checked out by a physician.

Frequent urination defined

Always having to go or feeling the need to urinate more often than is usual is called frequent urination. This differs from urgent urination which is an urgent, compelling need to urinate. This can be accompanied with bladder discomfort.

If the need to urinate occurs at night, it is termed nocturia. Normally, a person can sleep for between 6 and 8 hours without the need to urinate.

Common causes

When experienced simultaneously, a frequent, urgent need to go to the bathroom is a classic symptom of an infection in the urinary tract. Typically, the infection will cause an inflammation of the bladder which, in turn, reduces the bladder's capacity to hold urine. In this case, even a small amount of urine can be uncomfortable.

These symptoms can also be caused by:

Diabetes.

A condition called interstitial cystitis, which is a chronic, constant inflammation of the bladder. This is more common in women than men, but bears checking out.

Diuretics as well as other medicines.

Therapeutic radiation.

Dysfunction of the bladder.

Cancer of the bladder.

All of these are known to cause frequent urination, but there is one extremely common cause that is overlooked by many men. That is an enlarged prostate and affects more men than you probably know.

The prostate gland is a walnut sized gland that secretes seminal fluid (the fluid that carries the sperm cells). The gland itself surrounds the urethra, which carries urine out through the penis. As the prostate grows larger, it may exert pressure on the urethra and cause problems with frequent urination.

Causes of enlarged prostate

The prostate wraps around the urethra between the rectum and the pubic bone. Early in the development of an enlarged prostate, the muscle of the bladder contracts more powerfully than usual and pressurizes urine through the urethra. The bladder muscle responds by gaining thickness and sensitivity. This causes the need to urinate often.

The larger the prostate grows, the tighter is squeezed. The bladder then cannot compensate for the problem and empties entirely.

Symptoms of an enlarged prostate

Actually, an enlarged prostate is accompanied by no symptoms at all. There a re a few things to watch for, like:

A weak stream of urine or a stop/start during urination.
Finding it difficult to start urinating.
Dribbling of urine after urination.
Feeling like you are not done.
Leakage of urine (incontinence).
Frequent urination or an urgent need to go, especially during the night time.

If you have experienced any of the above, go to a doctor and get checked out immediately. An enlarged prostate only gets worse over time if it is overlooked. It could also lead to other more serious conditions.

Do Push Ups to Build Muscle Mass and Boost Metabolism

10:06:00 AM
Having spent many years doing many different workouts involving weights, cardiovascular machines, and calisthenics, I determined that the best way to build mass and boost metabolism is by doing pushups. Lots of pushups! After less than three months training, I was able to complete a one-thousand pushup routine in exactly 80 minutes.

Calisthenics, like pull-ups and pushups, are commonly avoided because they can be extremely painful. Because strength training exercises are typically anaerobic, with few exceptions, the body produces a high amount of lactic acid, thus causing a burning sensation in the muscles. Coupled with physical and mental exhaustion, an abundance of lactic acid can persuade even the hardest of athletes to give it a rest. Remember that your body will prevail, as long as you maintain your mental strength.

To begin, I would recommend a routine consisting of no more than 100-200 pushups, spread out over an entire day. Break them down into even sets, of say 20 pushups per set. Whenever you feel confident in yourself, drop to the floor and pound out a quick set. If 20 pushups are too many when you begin, then do more sets consisting of fewer repetitions per set. Do not concern yourself with the amount of time it takes to complete the first few workouts, just make sure you drink a lot of water and eat a lot of high protein food throughout the day. The day following your first pushup workout, your chest, stomach, shoulders and legs will be sore. It will become apparent just how many muscle groups are worked when doing pushups. Take 2-3 days rest.

The secret to building the endurance strength necessary to do extremely large numbers of repetitions is to strategize with your own body. The workouts need to be strategically spaced apart and sometimes stacked together to maximize results.

The second workout should be the same as the first, however do not take a 2-3 day rest after the workout. Instead of taking a long break, work out every other day, until you no longer get sore the day after. It may take a few weeks in order to be comfortable doing 200 pushups every other day. Do not lose sight of your goal. Remember that pain is a result of muscle wear and recovery, and should mentally represent progress, not a limitation. It will never go away, but it will greatly diminish over time as your body adjusts.

The third stage requires that you compress your workout into a set time interval. For the sake of example, let's say one hour. Find a comfortable number of repetitions that you feel that you will be able to repeat until you have reached your daily goal of 200 pushups. In this example, we'll do 10 repetitions. This workout will consist of 20 sets of 10 repetitions. 20 sets, evenly divided across 60 minutes means that you will need to do one set of 10 pushups every three minutes. Make sure that whatever goal you choose is achievable, and also poses a challenge. Repeat this routine every other day, until it becomes comfortable.

Because your muscles will quickly become fatigued doing calisthenics, it is very difficult to continually add more reps or sets to your workout. The easiest and most successful method [in my opinion] for building endurance is stacking workouts. By stacking, I mean completing the same workout more than one time in less than a 24 hour period. During the fourth stage, complete a 200 pushup routine in the morning and in the evening, followed by a day of rest. Once again, just like the previous stages, do this routine until your body becomes comfortable- this should only take a couple of weeks. At which point, you will complete the workout stacking, by coupling the two sessions into one two-hour session, consisting of 40 sets of 10 pushups, totaling 400 pushups. My buildup workouts include two sessions of 300-500 pushups apiece, followed by a day of rest. Note that you should not work the same muscle group two days in a row without rest. This method gave my body time to rest and refuel between sessions without going completely into recovery mode.

If your body responds quickly and you start to build considerable muscle mass in a short period of time, which I'm sure you will, the next thing to do is increase the number of repetitions per set and decrease the amount of time between sets. I would recommend a goal of 25-30 reps per set, beginning one set every 2 minutes. If done gradually, the workout compression can be very smooth and your 400-pushup routine can be completed in 32 minutes. It sounds very difficult, but it is achievable.

Now that you have the tools; timing your sets, timing your workouts and adding reps, you can pull the strings and make the workout work for you. If you have any difficulty in any particular aspect that prevents further gains, use the other techniques to manipulate your body into cooperating. For example, if you cannot add more reps to your sets, do more sets, or if you cannot do more sets, do two larger workouts spaced apart from one another.

Two important things to remember when doing mass building exercises such as pushups are; drink lots of water and eat lots of high protein food throughout the day. When doing my one-thousand pushup routine, I drink at least one full gallon of water daily to avoid dehydration and joint fatigue. Good luck!

Signs and Symptoms of Melanoma Skin Cancer

9:16:00 AM
Melanoma Skin Cancer is started in the cells that produce pigments. These cells are called Melanocytes. The Melanin that is the cause of skin, eyes and hair colour is the result of these cells. According to the NCI (National Institute of Cancer), there are over 68,000 new cases and near 9,000 deaths of Melanoma Skin Cancer each year in US.
The first sign of melanoma is normally a change in shape or colour and maybe size of a currently existed mole. You should see your doctor if you see a sudden or continuous change in the shape and size or colour of a mole. Sometimes melanoma appears on your skin as a new mole.
It's very easy to memorize what you look for. There are five parameters involved that we can refer to as "ABCDE" that are:
1. Asymmetry: when the shape of one half of the mole is not the same as the shape of the other half.
2. Border: when the pigment is spread into the nearby skin so the borders and edges are normally blurred and ragged.
3. Colour: it is normally uneven. Normally there are brown or black shades or some areas are white, gray and red or sometimes pink.
4. Diameter: the size can be very different but normally the melanomas are larger than 6 millimetres or ¼ inch.
5. Evolving: when the mole has changed during the past few weeks or months.
But have in mind that not all the melanomas show all of the above mentioned features. Sometimes the changes are only in one or two of the ABCDE.
There are some other warning signs and symptoms:
a. When you see a new bump
b. When colour is spread into the nearby skin areas
c. When you see a redness or swelling that is beyond the mole itself
d. When you feel pain
e. When you feel itching
f. When the mole bleeds
g. Sometimes oozing
h. Tenderness can be a sign as well
i. And scaly appearance
When the melanoma is more advanced, the texture of the mole may change. The skin becomes harder and the surface of the skin sometimes breaks down and scraped. Sometimes even bleeding has been reported and it may get itchy or painful.
Your doctor is definitely a person who can help you. Make sure if there is anything that bothers you, go and see your doctor.
What causes Melanoma Skin Cancer
The most dangerous cause of Melanoma Skin Cancer is the exposure to sunlight ultra violet rays. Melanocytes make more melanin under the sun light. That's why our skin is tanned under the sun. Scientist believe that enough exposure to UV radiation can hurt the DNA in melanocytes and causes them to grow more than normal and out of control.
It's good to know that Melanoma Skin Cancer happens more often in fair skin people than brown and black skin people. Fair or white skin people have less melanocyte cells in their skin hence more dangerous the UV ray is for them.
Doctors believe that Melanoma Skin Cancer is related not only to exposure to sun, but genetics plays a big role in this cancer. Because Melanoma Tumors can occur in the areas of the body that are not normally exposed to the sun. So people with family history of melanoma are more likely to develop the cancer. According to researches done by NCI (National Cancer Institute) One out of ten people diagnosed with melanoma have a family member who was previously diagnosed with the disease.
How to treat Melanoma Skin Cancer
Like most of the diseases and cancers, there is a good chance of good prognosis when the cancer is caught early. If the brown or black lesion has not spread beyond the skin surface, a simple surgery may be enough to cure the cancer.
But in more advanced cancer, the one that melanoma has spread to other parts of body, it is difficult to treat. According to NCI the chances of 5-year survival rate are:
1. 98% localised melanoma. 84% of melanoma cases are diagnosed at this stage
2. 62% if melanoma is spread under the skin to nearby lymph nodes
3. 16% if it spreads to distant parts of the body
In the last two cases doctors use Chemotherapy, radiation or biological therapy to treat the cancer.
How to prevent Melanoma Skin Cancer
It is not very easy to treat this cancer and it can take a lifelong, but it only takes some very simple precautions to decrease the risk.
The first and maybe the most important factor is avoiding tanning beds. Wearing sunscreens with SPF (Sun Protection Factor) of above 15 is another simple step. Wearing hats, visors and tightly woven clothing is very good to block the sunlight UV ray. And the last one is staying out of the sun during 10 am and 4 pm when the sunlight is very strong and UV level is at the highest.

Lipozene: Can you Really Lose Weight Fast With Lipozene?

11:24:00 AM
One of the more recent "stars" of the diet supplement world, Lipozene has been touted as a fast, easy route, to substantial weight loss. But does it really work? (For more information on this, go to: http://celopindietpill.blogspot.com/ )

The Lipozene diet pill is manufactured by Obesity Research Institute. You may have heard of them - they previously marketed similar products under the names Fiberslim and Propolene.

The central ingredient in Lipozene, is a substance called glucomannan. And this is the same substance that was used in Obesity Research Institute's prior diet products. So first, you need to take a good look at what exactly is glucomannan.

Without getting too technical, (I don't want to put you to sleep with a bunch of terminology from my Chemistry lab manuals!), glucomannan is basically a fiber supplement, derived from a plant. It is a substance that your body cannot absorb, so it just passes through your system, while providing fiber to help move everything else through. (Trying hard, not to get disgusting here!)

Now, there are clinical studies which confirm that glucomannan lowers blood-fat levels, and levels of the "bad" cholesterol (LDL). There is also some confirmation that consuming glucomannan with water before a meal, will give you a full feeling (the idea being that you will then eat less).

But before you run to your computer, to order a year's supply of Lipozene, I'm going to give you the honest truth. There are very serious problems with this product!

Yes I realize, you may have heard lots of stories about successful weight loss using Lipozene - from people trying to sell it to you! Well, fortunately for you, I refuse to sell people something that I wouldn't use myself. So I am going to reveal to you, the whole true story, about Lipozene and weight loss.

First, you need to clearly understand the problems:

#1: Diet pills are still drugs. And ALL drugs cause associated side effects. And sometimes, these side effects can even be dangerous.

#2: Glucomannan is a fiber product. And all fiber products can cause certain vitamins and minerals to bind with them - thus preventing your body from using those essential vitamins and minerals. Thus, it is advisable to take a quality multi-vitamin supplement, if you decide to use this type of diet pill.

#3: Since Lipozene is essentially a fiber product, this brings up the question: Why not just buy one of the commonly available fiber supplements, at a cost that is far less than Lipozene?

#4: There are many claims of success floating around the Internet, purportedly from Lipozene users. However, even these people state that they were following nutritional diet plans, and engaging in regular exercise, while on Lipozene. This means that we have no way of knowing whether they would have succeeded equally, merely by using a diet plan and exercise alone.

None of the problems above, however, addresses the most serious concern with Lipozene: Consumer Fraud.

The company that makes the product (Obesity Research Institute), has been cited numerous times for billing customers under false pretenses, and for refusing to provide refunds under conditions where a refund was promised. Furthermore, the Federal Trade Commission has charged the company with making "false and unsubstantiated claims" in the past. As a result, the company has been forced to pay $1.5 million in "customer redress"!

So as we can see, rather than living up to its promises of "easy weight loss", Lipozene comes with a list of concerns, and even questionable results. Plus, it is sold by a company with a history of criminal actions! Fortunately for you, there are other alternatives to Lipozene, which WILL help you to lose weight quickly.

Symptoms of Lymphoma in Women

5:13:00 AM
Symptoms of lymphoma in women are generally the same as for men.
Lymphoma often develops quietly and with few symptoms so it may take a while before you may realize that there is something very much the matter.
Following is a list of the typical symptoms of lymphoma in women and symptoms of lymphoma in men alike.
One thing to keep in mind is that these lymphoma symptoms can be symptoms of any of a large number of conditions that are generally harmless.
For this reason, it's wise to consult with your doctor if you experience any of them.
1. Enlargement of the Lymph Nodes
This is the most characteristic lymphoma symptom and can be the only symptom that one experiences.
It's very important to note that a lot of different things can cause an enlargement of the lymph nodes and it does NOT necessarily mean you have lymphoma!
Typically, the lymph nodes of the groin, armpit and neck will swell but cause no pain.
Humans have 500+ lymph nodes in the body which are basically "forts" of immunity.
When they swell, it is often indicative of the body initiating an immune response against some type of microscopic invader.
You may notice these lumps in the course of your daily routine, such as when showering or applying creams, etc.
The symptoms outlined most often only indicate a possible lymphoma if they are discovered in addition to swollen lymph nodes.
2. Losing Weight
Typically, sudden weight loss will occur over a period of several months with no good reason.
Weight loss can range from a few pounds to up to 20 or so.
3. Running a Fever
A random fever that keeps occurring for no good reason (i.e., is not connected with a flu, cold, etc.) is usually an indication to go see your physician.
Symptoms of lymphoma can be confused with symptoms of other illnesses and, in fact, a lymphoma that causes fever accompanied by lymph node swelling is frequently mistaken for a flu or something similar.
Additionally, in those afflicted by a Hodgkins type lymphoma, a quintessential type of fever termed Pel-Ebstein fever can develop.
4. Night Sweats
Excess sweating at night may find you waking up soaked in your own sweat.
5. Pruritis (Itchiness)
Lymphoma cells can secrete certain substance which cause the entire body to be itchy, a condition known as pruritis.
6. Lack of Appetite
Individuals with lymphoma can experience a drop in their usual appetite which can also cause weight loss, one of the other symptoms of lymphoma listed above.
7. Fatigue and Listlessness
Cancer cells hijack the body's energy resource that would otherwise be utilized by healthy cells, causing a drop in energy levels.
8. Swelling
Depending upon where a lymphoma grows (and it can occur in any organ of the body), it may compress and block off veins, effectively limiting blood supply and causing swelling.
Site-specific lymphomas produce rather widely varying symptoms.
A lymphoma of the brain may cause pains in one's legs while a lymphoma in the stomach can cause stomach pains.
General Symptoms of Lymphoma in Women and General Symptoms of Lymphoma in Men
The first and most obvious sign of lymphoma is adenopathy, aka lymphadenopathy, which is a painless swelling of the lymph nodes.
Swollen lymph nodes by themselves, however, are NOT necessarily an indication of lymphoma.
It requires medical testing to confirm or negate the diagnosis.
Symptoms of lymphoma can come in many varieties, dependent upon the location of the lymphoma, the stage of growth, size of tumor, etc.
Symptoms linked with bone marrow issues such as becoming anemic (having a low red blood cell count) are uncommon in the beginning stages of a lymphoma but often are seen later in the game and often as a result of treatment.
MALT (Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue) lymphomas affect any mucosal site, the stomach being the most common one. Alterations in bowel movement and stomach pains can be indications.
As far as the stomach lymphoma goes, if it is a result of infection with the H. Pylori bacterium, antibiotic treatment can cause the lymphoma to regress in 70%+ of cases.
How To Report Your Symptoms To A Doctor Effectively:
Describe the intensity of your symptom on a scale such as "This hurts about a 7 out of 10″.
For visually observable symptoms, show them to the doctor and also explain how they started off and looked like initially.
Explain when you first experienced your symptoms
How long have you been experiencing this symptom?
Is the symptom constant or does it come and go?
Describe any medications or dietary supplements you take/did take starting from the time symptoms manifested.
Do the symptoms change depending upon body positioning, time of day, etc.?
Do certain foods trigger the symptoms?
Be as descriptive as possible. The more accurate and specific the information you give, the more your doctor will be able to pinpoint the nature of your problem (if you have any!) and the better he/she will be able to treat you and advise you.
As you can see the Symptoms of Lymphoma in Women are generally the same as they are for men. It's important to pay attention to your body and note any symptoms you may have so that you can discuss them with your doctor in detail and he will be in a better position to help you.

Quit Smoking With Nature's Help

10:44:00 AM
Smoking is very dangerous to your health. Most smokers feel that there is nothing that they haven’t tried in order to quit. However, they may not be aware of the many natural means available which others have used to finally end this very destructive habit. It is possible to quit smoking, if you devise a plan, cleanse and support the body and use natural methods to curb nicotine cravings.
Most, if not all, people in the United States believe that smoking is unhealthy. Why then do people smoke? The answer lies in the addictive nature of nicotine. Over 80 percent of smokers declare that they want to quit and plan to do so at some point. Even heroin addicts admit that nicotine is truly the hardest drug habit to kick. (Haas, p.964)
Almost one-third of cases of pancreatic carcinoma can be attributed to cigarette smoking. Most lung cancers are caused by cigarette smoking. (Smokers are five to ten times more likely to suffer from lung cancer than nonsmokers). The more cigarettes you smoke per day and the earlier you started smoking, the greater the risk of lung cancer.
Children of smokers have an increased risk of sudden infant death syndrome, respiratory infections and lung cancer.
"Children of smokers have a much higher incidence and severity of asthma, bronchitis, colds and ear infections. They also have impaired lung development and reduced lung function tests." American Journal of Public Health, p. 209, Feb. 1989)
If you eat a balanced diet, drink a lot of clean water and take a vitamin supplement daily, you may feel that you are generally healthy. However, if you smoke, this is typically not the case. Heavy smokers do not get as much of a benefit from a healthy diet. Blood levels of Vitamin C are much lower in smokers. Zinc, Vitamin A and folic acid are often depleted in the bodies of smokers.
Now that we have covered just a few of the negative effects of smoking on the body, let’s figure out how to quit - and without drugs! It may come as a surprise to you that there is a way to be free of this horrible addiction without using prescription medication for help.
Let’s now cover some ideas on how to actually go about quitting.
Have you tried to quit before and failed? Did you quit for awhile and then start again? You may feel that because you tried and failed, that it proves that you can’t quit. However, this is not the case. In reality, you get points each time you attempt to quit. You inevitably learned something each time you tried, which gets you that much closer to being successful in quitting. Most quitters did not do it on their first try. So just think of it as your "practice" run! (3)
A main part of your quit smoking plan, is to figure out which interventions you will use when you are hit with a craving to smoke. Try to avoid being around other smokers. Learn some deep breathing exercises that you can use to de-stress. Exercise is also a great way to limit stress and keep you busy.
Something to consider once you have decided to quit smoking, is how to get the toxins out of your body. One theory is that many dependencies originate in the liver. Cleansing and detoxifying the liver is a crucial first step toward breaking free of these addictions. Detoxifying the liver will reduce the cravings for nicotine. (ESP, p. 279)
You can use echinacea to help flush the nicotine out of the lymph system and lungs. Vitamin C is a great chelator of toxic substances in the body. (Which means it will "grab" the offenders and flush them out through the waste system). A usual dose of C is 1000 mg four times per day. N-Acetyl-cysteine 1000 mg, two doses of glutamine 1000 mg, four capsules of Evening Primrose Oils and 20 Sun Wellness Chlorella tabs are a good regimine for removing nicotine toxicity from the body. (Page p. 548)
It is important during your detox and quitting time that you "avoid junk foods and sugar that aggravate cravings" (Page p.548) Ginseng can help you to normalize sugar cravings, as can stevia, stevioside or FOS. Trace mineral and mineral deficiencies can play a part in some addictions. Magnesium, potassium, calcium and zinc should all be included in the diet when trying to quit smoking. (ESP, p.279)
The main concern when quitting tobacco are the cravings! There are many choices when it comes to this issue. Essential oils, vitamins and herbal teas are all on the list of items in the "cravings" category.
Eating a diet which promotes body alkalinity is said to show less desire for tobacco. To calm your nerves, try Magnesium 800 mg daily, stress B-complex 100 mg daily, valerian/wild lettuce drops in water. (Page, p.548) Young Living Essential Oils offers a blend called "Peace and Calming" which, some people have reported, was all they needed during their quitting time.
Oil of clove is also reported by many people to be extremely effective in their war with nicotine cravings. In Stanley Burrough’s “Master Cleanser” book, he states "For those who wish to quit smoking, place a small amount (of clove oil) on your finger - place it on back of the tongue and you immediately lose your desire to smoke. This is an easy way if you really want to quit." Peppermint oil has also been reported to be effective. Just a touch of it on the tongue, in the same manner as you apply the clove oil will do it.
Single oils which may be helpful in smoking cessation in addition to clove and peppermint, are cinnamon and nutmeg. Other blends of oils recommended for reducing addictive behavior are Harmony, Thieves, Exodus II, Peace and Calming, JuvaCleanse and JuvaFlex. These can be directly inhaled or diffused, applied topically on the temples and/or back of the neck four times daily, or used as a warm compress over the liver.
Quitting smoking is not an easy task to undertake. However, if you give your body the right tools, you can repair the damage done by smoking, you can reduce your cravings and YOU CAN QUIT! Try some of these simple, natural and effective helpers. Nature is the best medicine, so believe in yourself and watch it happen!!

What is Cancer and how to avoid and destroy it?

6:36:00 AM
Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in the life of a person. When a person's immune system is strong, it destroys cancer cells and prevents them from multiplying and forming tumors. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. May be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle. To overcome the various nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system. Chemotherapy involves poisoning rapidly growth of cancer cells and also destroys rapidly growing cells, bone marrow, gastrointestinal tract, etc. And it can cause damage to organs like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs, testicles. While destroying cancer cells, radiation also burns, scars and damages the cells, tissues and organs.

Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation to often reduce tumor size. However, prolonged use and settlement de quimioterapia not produce greater destruction of the tumor. When the body receives too much toxic burden of chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is affected and destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other parts.

An effective way of fighting is to starve cancer cells by not feeding them the food they need to grow.

CARCINOGENS CELLS FEED ON:

cancer+cells.jpga. Sugar is a cancer nutrient. Deleting the sugar is removed the cancer cells a significant source of food. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and are harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small quantities. Table salt has a chemical to give it its white color. A better alternative would Bragg's amino or sea salt.

b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastrointestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk, cancer cells are starving.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic, it is best to eat fish and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites of livestock, which are harmful, especially to people with cancer.

d. A diet consisting of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and encourage the growth of healthy cells. For enzymes to create healthy cells, try to take fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destruyena temperatures of 40 º C (104 degrees Fahrenheit).

e. Avoid coffee, tea and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties. Water - best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.

The protein of meat is difficult to digest and requires many digestive enzymes. The meat remains undigested in the intestines become putrefied and creates more toxic buildup.

The walls of cancer cells have a thick protein shell. When you deprive yourself or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the phagocytes (the cells responsible for killing body cells) to destroy cancer cells.

Some supplements strengthen the immune system (IP6, Flor-ssence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, fatty grasosesenciales [EFAs.] Etc) to allow the phagocytes to destroy cancer cells. It is known that other supplements such as vitamin E cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body's normal method of disposing of damaged cells, unwanted, or unneeded.

Cancer is a disease of the mind, body and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help those who fight against cancer to be a survivor. Anger, unforgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn Athens a kind and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life. 16. Cancer cells can not thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily and deep breathing help to get more oxygen at the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

5 Tips for Reducing Back Pain

5:51:00 AM
It is estimated that 80% of Americans will have some type of back pain at some point in their lives. Many of the remedies we apply with regard to this problem actually work against the natural healing abilities of the human body. This list will help reduce the severity of most cases of back pain and help speed the healing process. In addition, it's always beneficial to consult a professional to rule out more severe
health conditions.
1. Don't use heat. The majority of people have been told to use heat when having back problems. This is the absolute worst thing you can do. Back pain usually has little to do with muscles and everything to do with nerves. Nerve irritation from misaligned spinal bones causes muscles
to brace against the misalignment to protect you from further injuring yourself. This is a good thing. So muscle spasms should not be massaged away or forced to relax. Muscles only do what nerves tell them to do and they will relax only when the nerve irritation is removed.
Back pain is most often caused by nerve irritation resulting from injury to spinal joints and ligaments.
The actual injury that caused the pressure may have happened years prior. Because of the joint dysfunction, the slightest incorrect move or strain can cause the disc and surrounding tissues to swell, just like when you sprain an ankle. The swelling causes pressure on spinal nerves, which causes that shooting pain you feel when you move in certain directions.
The solution in this case is ice. Ice will reduce the swelling which will, in turn, reduce the nerve pressure. Heat, on the other hand, will cause surrounding tissues to swell, which will ultimately increase the nerve pressure. Heat will certainly make some people feel better, but will cause more problems in the long run.
Tip: never, never, never use heat on the spine.
2. Walk. Walking is the very best exercise for your spine. It's even better if you add a couple of inches to your stride, causing you to reach a bit with each step. Walking causes your ab and hip muscles to work together and support each other. It also can cause stuck spinal bones to move a little more freely which can reduce swelling and pain. The movement will also help keep your hip joints moving through
a complete range of motion, which will lessen the chances of them getting fixed to one another.
Tip: one word of caution, though. If walking makes your pain worse, stop.
3. Be careful with pain relievers. While pain pills may the first thing you reach for when your back hurts, you might be causing yourself more problems. Besides the risk of side effects that all pain relievers pose, blocking the pain signal your nerves are sending could make the injury linger.
The pain signal acts as an alarm clock. It alerts you that something is wrong. It also lets you know your limits. If you bend forward and feel a sudden rush of horrible pain, that movement obviously isn't good for you. Your body is telling you not to do that. Now if you cover that pain signal with drugs, you stop your body from being able to communicate that important message to you. This can make you able to do things your body doesn't want you to do, making your problem worse.
Tip: if you're going to take medications for pain, take them before you go to bed or when you aren't going to do anything else that day.
4. No Crunches. People with back pain have been told for years to strengthen their abdominal muscles by doing crunches. While strong abs are important for spinal stability, crunches will eventually destroy your back.
The natural curves of the spine are its most important feature. They act as shock absorbers, much like the ones on your car, and keep your body from falling apart from the physical activity you engage in every day. When you do a crunch, you force your lower back into the floor which
removes the lower back curve. Then the strain from the exercise is absorbed by the surrounding spinal joints, muscles, and ligaments, which they were not designed to do. Over time this will cause problems.
Also, when the curves of the spine are healthy, a naturally occurring locking mechanism exists that holds all spinal bones in their proper places. When you straighten the spine while doing a crunch, this locking mechanism is removed and the spine becomes vulnerable to greater injury.
Tip: find some other exercises to strengthen your abs. Bodyweight calisthenics do this wonderfully. Any exercise where you use your entire body in the movement will produce more powerful abs. Swimming, push-ups, and sprints are great, as well as abdominal isometrics. They won't give you a six-pack, but they will certainly stabilize and strengthen your spine without causing harm.
5. Get adjusted. Misaligned spinal bones don't just move back into place by themselves. It does happen, but rarely. Since some type of force probably caused the misalignment in the first place, a controlled force in the right direction at the right time is needed to correct it.
What you should also know is that spinal nerve irritation is not gone when your pain disappears. It lingers like a cavity until it's fixed. The pain reappears when you physically do too much and irritate the problem, but it is always present once it's created. That's why people tend to hurt themselves in the same spot time after time. It's not a new injury every time it happens, but rather an old injury resurfacing.
Tip: if you had a cavity, you'd get it fixed, so find a good chiropractor and make spinal adjustments part of your health regimen.
