Does Vicks Help Foot Fungus?

12:24:00 PM
Athlete's Foot is a very painful, unsightly, and unforgiving fungus of the foot. It is called "Athlete's Foot" because it is usually spread by bacteria found on gym floors, in gym showers, and on gym equipment. A good way to avoid it is to never go into a gym barefooted, and always wear shower shoes or flip-flops in the shower and locker room. So, does Vicks help foot fungus, or is it a myth?
Toe Nail Fungus is No Fun
The condition is related to ringworm of the foot or, "tinea pedis". Common symptoms include scaling, itching, flaking, and peeling between the toes and also red, dry soles. If you were unfortunate enough to have caught it, you might be trying to find a cheaper, more natural solution than an expensive prescription or over the counter drug with artificial ingredients.
Natural Toenail Fungus Remedies
There are many natural home remedies to treat Athlete's Foot. Some suggest soaking the feet in a mixture of one part vinegar to four parts water twice a day while other recommend spraying the infected area with hydrogen peroxide twice a day for four or five days depending on severity.
Treating Nail Fungus
Another viable solution is to use Vick's Vapor-rub that will answer the question, "Does Vicks help foot fungus?". Most households have this to treat sore throat, cough, and allergy symptoms. Vick's has been associated with many crazy remedies, including eating a scoopful when feelings of a cold come up. Using it to cure Athlete's Foot will probably be easier to swallow, pardon the pun. The recommended way to use Vick's to cure fungus nails is to coat the infected area with a thick spread of Vick's: wrap in a plastic wrap or cotton wrap, secure tightly, and wear for a few hours. This process should be done twice a day until the infection is gone. Reports show that the infected area may discolor, especially under toenails, but do not be alarmed, that is the Vick's killing the infection. It should take up to a week to start seeing results.
Toe Fungus Treatment that Works
Some speculate over what is in Vick's to cause the healing of the infection. The three main ingredients are: camphor, eucalyptus oil, and menthol. Since the biggest way to irritate athlete's foot is to let it breathe, it may be the menthol which is the biggest help, since menthol opens up the pores and allows air to pass through.
The actual science on "Does Vicks help foot fungus?" it is hard to find.
But whatever the science may say, there are many home remedy groups that are adamant about the curing possibilities of Vick's Vapor Rub. Since it has so many uses in other areas, it's at least worth a try. It may be just the foot fungus treatment you are looking for. Why spend a lot of money on costly treatments when you can use something as simple as this for a fungus nail cure?

Precaution and Prevention for foot infections during monsoon

10:12:00 AM
Introduction:
Monsoon comes as a combined package containing relief from heat and beautiful surroundings but our skin doesn't echo the same sentiments. Because of the humidity and moisture, the skin behaves a bit strange and can leads to fungal as well as bacterial infection. This is because that there is high humidity in monsoon which provides favourable conditions for the growth of bacteria and fungi. The problem is embarrassing and ever existent!
But more care and concern needs to be given to our feet during the monsoons. Along with smelly feet we are also prone to feet infections and feet diseases that spread during the monsoons.
Diabetic patients have to take a special care about their feet.
Why specially the monsoons?
Monsoons are characterized by the humid, wet and sticky climate and this leads to a sweaty feat, wet mucky shoes, fungal infections, athlete's foot and many other feet diseases. In fact we are more prone to other typical monsoon disease like leptospirosis if we do not keep our feet clean.
The roads are full of water and mud which enter our foot wear. To make things worse, we wear the wet and dirty shoes in office for hours, and then return home with swollen, unclean and smelly feet.
Preventive tips:
  • Wash your feet with an antiseptic after coming back to home if you have been out in the rains. Scrubbing them ensures that all the dirt is washed away.
  • Just as you wash your feet, wash your sandals also with a disinfectant and keep them in the sun to dry.
  • Dry your feet as regularly as possible once out of the rain. Always check for any traces of water especially between your toes to prevent fungal infections.
  • Avoid wearing boots as these hold water for longer duration, sogging your feet and making room for bacteria and fungus to breed.
  • Wearing open shoes and sandals in rain if possible to air your feet.
  • Keeping the feet dry is very important so avoid applying moisturiser between your toes during the rainy season.
  • Wear cotton socks during the rainy season and change your shoes as well as socks everyday, especially if you have been out in the rains.
  • Cutting the nails of your feet regularly and cleaning the area between the nails and your toe prevents infections.
  • Avoid walking in dirty rain water and keep your shoes and socks dry and clean.
  • As far as possible walk around the house bare feet. It will help with blood circulation in the chilly weather especially since most of us sit in AC rooms throughout the day
  • Using an anti-fungal powder every morning and an anti-fungal cream every night during monsoons will help keeping your feet safe from the fungal attack.
There is no need to hate the rains. With a little precaution and simple measures you can save yourselves a lot of misery over fungal infection and enjoy the monsoon just as any other season, probably more!!

3 Amazing Ways to Cure Sweaty Feet

10:06:00 AM
Ready to cure your nasty foot sweating problem? Looking for a way to stop the wetness and odor quickly and conveniently? Easy enough! Just follow my 3 simple sweaty feet cures below and you'll be well on your way.
I know what you're going through...and it stinks! Yeah, pun intended - sorry
The good news is, you're not alone. Having sweaty feet is a pretty common complaint among most people. I certainly dealt with it on a daily basis. If you're anything like I was, it can be such a nerve racking experience having to take your shoes off in front of someone else. You pray they don't stink or worse off, the person will see the sweat stains soaking through your socks - yikes!
This is getting a little personal here but before I give you these three amazing treatments, I have to let you know one of my most embarrassing sweaty foot stories. I was in college and went on a date with this girl. Anyway, things were going pretty great and after dinner, we went back to her apartment to cuddle up a bit. When I got through the door she said the place was just cleaned and asked me to take my shoes off. Already, I was getting a little nervous.
I remember she had this dark tile kitchen floor and as I walked across it, I left damp foggy foot tracks. She looked put off by the sight of my sweat tracks immediately.
Things got a little awkward after that and I never heard from her again. Now, I don't know if things didn't work out because of my sweaty feet, but I'm sure it didn't add to my allure at the time.
So look, whatever reason YOU have to stop your foot sweating, it really couldn't be any easier once you know the simple home remedies that get results super FAST. I'm talking, within hours.
Let's get started with the first treatment.
Vinegar Foot Baths - Mix together 1/2 cup vinegar and a quart of very warm water in a basin. Soak your feet for 25 minutes. Then, dry your feet well - make sure you don't forget the spaces in between your toes. Don't rinse your feet. Let the vinegar really saturate your pores.
Not only does the vinegar act as an astringent, It exfoliates a thin top layer of your foot skin. You'll experience dryness for hours after this soak. Plus, the acid in the vinegar neutralizes odor causing bacteria deep in your feet. Some people like using apple cider vinegar for this treatment. However, for foot sweating, I prefer white vinegar. It's stronger and works faster.
As a side benefit, vinegar also inhibits fungal growth so you'll protect your toenails from fungus and clear up common problems like athletes foot.
Salt Water Soak - Simple? Yes. Effective? Ohhh Yes. Don't underestimate the power of a salt water soak on your feet. The salt will dry them right up and if you use Epsom salts, you'll have soft dry skin as well. Exfoliating with a loofah before soaking your feet in salt water makes results faster AND longer lasting. You also want to make sure you use warm water to open up your skin's pores and allow maximum exposure to the salt.
Be careful if you have any open cuts or sores on your feet. This will burn if you have any open abrasions.
Sage Tea - I saved the best for last. Sage tea contains super high levels of Tannic Acid which is a natural astringent. Add 4 or 5 bags of sage tea into a large basin of hot water and let it steep until the tea is fully dissolved. Then soak your feet for 25 minutes.
The tea will work its way into your foot pores and go to work, drying them up and neutralizing odor causing bacteria. Sage tea is VERY powerful as a long-term foot odor cure. Try this tonight and fall in love with the results.
Just a heads up - after you take your feet out of the basin, they'll be a little tanned from the tea. Don't freak out, the tanned color washes right off with a little soap and water.
