Home Remedies for Dry Skin

10:13:00 AM
Dry skin has no permanent cure but the skin can be softened and made smoother by using a few remedies. Most popularly, lotions and creams are used to soothe the dry skin. Using a mild soap or a cleansing body wash might eliminate the problem temporarily. However, this option can turn out to be pretty expensive if the skin is genetically dry or just exceptionally dry. Certain remedies can be used to soften the dry skin right at home.
A face pack made of fruits rich in vitamins and water can have a good effect on the dry skin. Some of the fruits that can be used are papaya, peach, and banana. Mashed avocado can also be applied to the skin for a glowing effect. A mild lotion or moisturizer can follow these face packs, to retain the moisture produced by the face pack. It is advised to use oil-based lotions in such instances. Moisture has to be applied with upward circular motion always.
Night creams containing alpha hydroxy acids can be used as night cream so as to have a fresh looking skin in the mornings. These are more oily than the regular creams and work more effectively for longer time during the nights.
A diet consisting of a lot of Vitamin A, Vitamin B, and Vitamin E can be taken for an inner glow in the skin. Leafy vegetables help the most in replenishing the moisture in the skin. The water intake needs to increase a lot to help the body have the required amount of fluids. Fruit juices are also considered to be very helpful in softening the skin.
Rose water, almond oil, honey, olive oil, and beaten curd can all be used as good face packs. Other than this, daily massage or facial sauna with herbal oils and use of mild detergent and fragrance free soap can work wonders on dry skin.

Home Remedies For Reducing Red Veins

7:21:00 AM
Red veins are a common skin condition that many people find irritating.
Red veins are not problematic from a medical standpoint but can be of concern from an aesthetic point of view for people who want to have smooth even skin tone and are annoyed by the appearance of these tiny red "blemishes" under the surface of their skin.
Red or spider veins appearance can be characterised by the following:
  • Tiny red blood vessels just under the surface of your skin
  • Spidery red lines or "squiggles" on your cheeks or nose
  • Red dots and patches
Like pimples red veins can be aggravated by environmental conditions or for those people with sensitive skin, by ingredients in their skin care products.
Environmental factors that may increase the appearance of red or spider veins include:
  • Washing your face with very cold or hot water
  • Excessive consumption of alcohol (the alcohol stimulates your blood vessels and brings them to the surface of your skin)
  • Wind or sun damage
  • Acids or chemicals in skin care products
  • Hereditary predisposition to red veins (which can be largely countered by doing the right things with your skin & by using the right products)
Fortunately there are some methods of dealing with red veins, some you can practice at home and others at beauty salons.
Some of the options you can look at are red vein laser treatment, spot treatment with an electrolysis machine, or by using several natural essential oils apply topically to your skin.
Essential oils like Neroli, Geranium and Parsley are excellent for shrinking red veins diminishing their appearance over time. You can add these oils to your skin care products or make your own natural serums at home using oils like Olive, Apricot, Almond, Safflower or Wheatgerm and adding these essential oils to them.
Many essential oils are not only great for treating red veins and other skin disorders, but also offer many anti aging, protecting and repairing benefits for skin of all ages and types.
There are also a whole range of facial masks you can make at home from ingredients like crushed parsley or using parsley oil that help to calm and soothe red veins like the recipe below:
Aloe Vera and Parsley Red Vein Treatment Mask
1/2 cup aloe vera juice or 3 tblsp aloe vera gel (best straight from the plant)
2 tsp chopped and crushed parsley leaves
1 tblsp milk or yoghurt (optional)
Mix together well until the parsley is blended finely into the aloe vera. Apply to your skin every few days leaving on for ten minute then washing off with warm water (not hot or cold). Make sure you don't expose your skin to extremes of temperature so you do not aggravate your veins.
You can also make serums bases like the ones described in Mia Gordons Natural Home Made Skin Care Recipes book and add essential oils of Neroli, Parsley or Geranium to them or alternatively add these to either your own home made or store bought lotions and face creams.
Remember to use good protection from the sun and wind on your face, and do not expose your skin to extremes of temperature because your skin will try to "repair" the area of "damage" exposure by delivering blood to that part of your skin producing those unwanted red patches your are trying to eliminate.

Natural Home Remedies for Brown Spots – Get Age Spots Free Skin

9:33:00 AM
Age spots mostly appear in areas consistently exposed to sunlight (the face and backs of hands, for example), although they also are occasionally found on less exposed areas. Ultraviolet (UV) light accelerates the production of melanin. Melanin is the dark pigment in the epidermis that gives your skin its normal color. The extra melanin is produced to protect the deeper layers of your skin—creates the darker color of a tan.
Age spots are harmless. Age spots range from freckle-size to more than a centimeter across and can group together, making them more prominent. Often, age spots are accompanied by other signs of sun damage. Symptom is a skin lesion that is a painless, flat patch or macule (area of skin color change). Liver spots are the result of a "ceroid" pigment build up in the skin of older people. These latter spots are the outward signs of free radical destruction within the body. There is pre-oxidation of fats—in the cells instead of in the liver. Free radical damage produces waste materials in cells throughout the body, including the brain and liver. Liver spots do not become cancerous.

What causes age spots?
When you are exposed more to the sun your skin produces cells called melanocytes. These cells produce a dark brown pigment called melanin, because of which your skin turns darker. When you are overexposed to sunlight, the melanocytes will be produced in a higher extent. This causes in the appearance of brown, black or gray spots on your skin, which are popular as age spots. These age spots appear on every body area exposed to the skin, and they are more on your face as it is more exposed to sun than any other part.

Home Remedies to Treat Brown Spots:
Keep in mind that these brown spots, thought to be caused by sun damage or a nutrition deficiency, took years to form. A variation of this remedy is to rub on castor oil and take the vitamin E orally.
Lemon juice is a tried and tested remedy for treating freckles. Apply lemon juice with your fingers on the affected area; lemon juice bleaches the dark spots.
To remove freckles. Blanch and grind two almonds, mix it with white of an egg and half teaspoon of lime juice. Spread the mixture on the face and leave it on till the skin feels dry. Then, wash off first with warm water and then with cold water.
Another home remedy for facial brown spots is to make a paste of different plants cobinations and apply it to your face. Grind about 100 grams of dried basil leaf, neem leaf (from the tree the Indians call "Nature's Drugstore) and mint; add some turmeric powder. Put in enough rose water to make a paste. Apply this to the age spots on the face. Also , a paste of saffron and honey can also help remove dark spots.
Buttermilk Dab buttermilk on the spots. The lactic acid and other ingredients in the milk are beneficial to the skin. Buttermilk has been used for generations as a skin cleanser and as a beauty aid.
