Acne - Vitamins, Herbs and Other Natural Treatments

3:27:00 AM
Acne is caused largely by the overproduction of sebum, an oily substance that causes the pores of the skin to become blocked, resulting in spots or pimples. They are found on the face, though they may extend to the shoulders, back, arms and chest. The condition is particularly common in the adolescent years due to hormonal changes.
Acne occurs in two main forms:
  • acne vulgaris - affecting the hair follicles and oil secreting glands. It manifests as blackheads, whiteheads and inflammation and

  • acne conglobata - the more severe for with deep cysts formation and subsequent scaring.
Acne is frequently treated with antibiotics. Tetracycline is the antibiotic that is frequently prescribed for the treatment of acne. The most common side effect from treatment with tetracycline is the overgrowth of candida albicans and other yeast in the gastrointestinal and genitourinary systems.
What you can do to treat acne
The natural approaches to acne treatment include the following:
  • The place to start is with internal cleansing. This means that you will be clean from the inside out. It is really the only effective way to deal with acne in the long term.

  • Restrict foods that do not support the immune system. These foods include: dairy products including goat milk and yoghurt, eggs, grains, especially gluten rich grains such as wheat, oats, barley and rye, sugar salt, excessive animal fats and artificially coloured and preserved foods. In particular it is important to remove any chocolate as it contains sugar, dairy products and fats.

  • The diet should include plenty of fresh vegetables and needs to include garlic, onions, ginger, leeks and horseradish in the foods.

  • Drink of a lot of pure filtered water.

  • Commence probiotics (friendly bacteria) to establish the correct balance of bowel flora.

  • Avoid medications (if at all possible) that can lead to acne. These include: anabolic steroids, such as testosterone, corticosteroids such as cortisone and prednisone, oral contraceptives, progesterone and drugs containing bromides or iodides.

  • Avoid exposure to oils and grease particularly in skin creams and cosmetics.

  • Commence a good multivitamin and mineral supplement and omega 3. It is thought that acne may be caused by deficiencies of vitamin A, vitamin B6, essential fatty acids (Omega 3), zinc (take a zinc supplement 30mg every day) and vitamin E.

Herbal treatment
Herbal treatment can include the following mixture:
  • Cleavers 1 part
  • Echinacea 1 part
  • Figwort 1 part
  • Poke root 1 part
Place these herbs into a pan and add a cup of boiling water. Allow to stand for 10 - 15 minutes and strain out the herbs. This tea should be drunk three times per day.
Additional herbs that could be used include dandelion and yellow dock.
The following mixture will be of assistance and can be taken for a while:
  • 1 part blue flag
  • 1 part cleavers
  • 1 part echinacea
  • 1 part figwort
  • 1 part poke root
Combine all the ingredients. Take 1 teaspoon of the herb blend and place into a suitable sized saucepan and add one cup of boiling water. Allow this to stand for 10-15 minutes. Strain out the herbs. Drink 1 cup three times per day.
Externally a lotion or infusion of the following herbs will be useful:
  • 1 part marigold
  • 1 part chickweed
Distilled witch hazel will also be useful as will frequent washing with pure non drying soap.

How To Get Rid Of Pimples Overnight ,For That Flawless Skin

10:52:00 AM
It is true treating pimples needs both patience and persistence, but sometimes time is the thing you are short of. You desperately need them off your face at any cost; the world seems almost cruel otherwise. You almost feel like tearing your hair out thinking of how to get rid of pimples overnight and it is for situations like these that there are over the counter drugs and ointments.
However, just using medicines will not relieve you of the pimples, there are rules you have to follow to make it work out right. There are Dos and Do nots and always remember some things are better left alone, messing with them is not advisable. For example, if you think the easiest way out of your ordeal would be to pop your zits, you are definitely wrong.
Most of the time, overnight pimple cures are just an overblown phrase because an overnight cure for pimples is almost impossible to devise without a change in your lifestyle. Especially if you are used to having a stressful life and you have a biased diet. Try to make it a balanced one including food that would also make it into a cleansing diet. Talking of cleansing, there is no substitute for water, thus make drinking 8-10 glasses of water each day a part of your daily routine.
Tips for overnight cure
Some home remedies however can rid you of pimples sometimes overnight and even if not overnight by not more than half a day.
You could use the white of an egg to dab on your pimple. Once left on for around 20 minutes it usually helps and dries up the pimple. Another unique method would be to apply toothpaste; preferably not the gel type on the pimple and it has the same effect.
Cleaning the skin is an essential part of curing pimples and the cleaning needs special care when you need to cure pimples overnight. If you wash your face with a soap enriched with aloe vera it can help you immensely. You could also try cleaning your skin with apple cider vinegar, or a more simple remedy would be to clean it with lemon juice.
Before you start any pimple remedy, you must be sure that the acne is not caused due to an allergic reaction to any food or cosmetics. The cure could otherwise have an adverse effect on the acne.
Your skin is unique and different from everyone else's and therefore you should remember that what works for someone else might not work for you and vice versa. Therefore, it would be advisable if you try out the different methods beforehand to know which one suits you.
You could also pay your family physician a visit, who might just as well recommend you to a dermatologist. Both the doctor and the dermatologist might have ideas that would truly rid you of that pimple overnight.

How to Cure Nail Yeast Infection

7:55:00 AM
The intended purpose of this very short article is to enlighten you about some of the possible dangers, relating to some of the cures and treatments on the market today, regarding yeast infection. Always, consult with your personal doctor. Or as is properly stated, your health care professional. Ok, I am a farmer, and I talk in farmer talk. Doctor to me is a Dr., not my health care professional. Smile. ALSO, the statements in this article are my thoughts and/or opinions, based on reading, and personal experience with yeast infection.
Identification of nail yeast infection is usually painfully easy. I do not intend to say that it is pain, as in a hurting, rather a pain as in "oh no I have a ..." Yeast infection, as we have come to find out manifests itself in numerous ways. A candida albicans infection of the skin around the base and sides of the nails frequently occurs. Both our hands and our feet are targets forget another type of yeast infection. People most at risk are whose hands are constantly wet and children who suck their thumbs. The skin at the base of the nail becomes red and painful over the period of a day or so. Occasionally, there is pus discharged from the sides of the nails. If the infection persists, the skin below the nail can become infected. If this occurs, the nail can become irregular, thickened and brittle, with ridges and groves in it.
We feel that natural treatment of nail yeast infections, are simple and safe. We do strongly suggest you consult with your personal physician, prior to any personal use, of any idea you read here. Infections in the skin around the edge of the nail may be successfully treated with Tea Tree Oil. This oil should be applied twice daily and massaged into the affected area until the infection goes away.
Now the yeast infection gone under the nail, it has now become much more difficult
to treat. This is because the area is protected by the nail surface. One method of treatment for these infections under the fingernail or toenail, a solution of Crystal Violet in alcohol should be applied, like nail polish, on the nails. We found the Crystal Violet in our local health food store. This application should continue twice a week for 3-4 months, or about a week after it has cleared up. Gentian Violet or Crystal Violet Solution is available at pharmacies or chemists.
Now after having cleared up this problem area, we must now apply a prevention of nail yeast infection recurring. Try to avoid infection by keeping your nail, and the surrounding skin areas as dry as possible. If your hands must be frequently in water, protect your hands, nails and cuticles with lanolin, and hand lotion containing a good amount of lanolin or wear gloves. If you are prone to nail yeast infection under or around the nail, massage the nail and cuticle areas with Tea Tree Oil prior to exposure to water.
I have attempted to share with you what I feel are some really good treatments and/or cures for yeast infection. There are a lot natural treatments and cures, available to us. The choice of what to use, when to use it, and how to use it is ours. While it is hoped you have been enlightened by these few words, I am grateful. However, I do not hold, nor do I practice as a health care professionals. So even, if you do not follow your physicians advice, at least talk to them about what your doing. Among other things yeast infections of our nails is not pleasant to look at.

Back Pain Cures - The Top 5 Home Remedies

8:01:00 PM
It is estimated that over 80% of adults will suffer from back pain at some point in our lives. It seems every day there is a miraculous new cure available online or via a TV infomercial. Despite this supposed innovation, the percentage of back pain sufferers has remained consistent for the past 30 years. The amount we spend on back pain, however, has skyrocketed. We now spend a staggering 86 billion dollars annually chasing cures for back pain. I want to get back to the basics and share with you my top 5 home remedies to help you cure your back pain and also save you some money in the process.
1) Strengthen the correct muscles. Most of us assume that our back pain is, in part, due to a weakness in our back muscles. The truth is, the problem is actually an imbalance between the back muscles, the abdominal muscles and the gluteal (buttocks) muscles. Surprisingly, the back muscles are often found to be the strongest of the three.
To strengthen your abdominal muscles you should perform crunches. Avoid doing a full military sit up, as this places abnormal stain on, and my aggravate, your pain. The key when performing abdominal crunches is to keep your back flat against the ground. This minimizes the possibility of irritating your back pain while doing them.
The best way to strengthen your gluteal muscles is through lunges. You perform them by stepping forward with one leg and lowering your body toward the floor until your lead knee reaches a 90 degree angle. You then push down with your lead foot, straightening your leg and raising your body back to the starting position. You should focus on tightening the gluteus muscle of your lead leg while pushing back to the starting position. Repeat this exercise 10 times with each leg. You can also increase the effectiveness of this exercise by holding dumbbells in your hands.
2) Increase the flexibility in your hips and back. Back pain often results in stiffening of the joints in your lower back and hips. The best, most efficient way to stretch these muscles is by performing a hurdler's stretch. You start by sitting on the floor with your right leg outstretched and your left leg bent and rotated so your left foot is near your left hip. Bend forward at your waist, reaching toward your outstretched right leg and foot. In this position you will be stretching your back, right hamstring, right gluteus and left quadriceps muscles all at the same time. Hold this position for 30 seconds and then repeat by switching legs.
3) Start walking. Walking is the single most underestimated health strategy there is. In addition to relieving back pain the health benefits of walking include mobilizing stiff joints, increasing blood flow and removing toxins from your joints and connective tissue. It is also a great form of stress relief. Researchers at Cal State University found that just a 10 minute walk is enough to increase energy, alter mood and affect a positive outlook for up to 2 hours. I recommend getting a small pedometer. You can find them at any Wal-Mart or similar store. Your goal is to walk 10,000 steps per day.
4) Watch what you eat. Certain foods are known to increase inflammation in your body, thereby aggravating your back pain. Reducing or eliminating them from your diet can often have a dramatic positive effect on your back pain. The biggest culprits are processed white flour, high fructose corn syrup, red meats, fried foods and soft drinks. Pay close attention to the amount of these foods that are in your diet.
5) Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate. A lack of water, or dehydration, is a major player in perpetuating chronic pain. Without enough water in your body there is a build up of inflammatory chemicals and toxins in your joints, muscles and tendons. This toxic build up is a persistent irritant to the sensitive tissues in your back. The recommended amount of water to consume is 8 cups per day. The prevalence of bottled water makes it easy for you to keep track of your intake. As noted in tip number 4, soft drinks and sodas are common culprits in perpetuating the inflammation associated with back pain. I strongly advise you to replace all soft drinks in your diet with water.
Follow these 5 tips and you will see dramatic improvement in not only your back pain but in your overall health as well.

Curing Pink Eye Or Conjunctivitis Naturally Using Home Remedies

12:02:00 PM
What is Pink Eye?
Conjunctivitis, or pink eye, is an inflammation of the conjunctiva, a clear membrane that covers the outer layer of the eye and the inner surface of the eyelids. As with other common eye inflammations, conjunctivitis usually looks and feels worse than it is. While the pronounced redness can be quite alarming, conjunctivitis very rarely causes long term visual damage. Pink eye is, however, a condition that often needs to be diagnosed and treated early as certain types of conjunctivitis are very contagious and any prolonged inflammation of the eyes should be treated with caution to prevent complications and tissue damage.
What are the Symptoms of Conjunctivitis?
Pinkeye is caused by infections from bacteria or viruses, allergies, or certain irritants that come into contact with the eye. Because of all the different causes, there are several different types of conjunctivitis and different symptoms. Infection usually begins with one eye but can quickly spread to the other eye in cases of viral or bacterial conjunctivitis. Symptoms of pink eye may include:
Discomfort in the eye
Redness of the eye or inner eyelids
Discharge and teariness
Discharge may cause eyelids to crust and stick together while sleeping
Itchiness
Tenderness of the eye, or pain
Sensitivity to light
Swelling of the eyelids
Because conjunctivitis is highly contagious and can easily be spread to your other eye, other people and to yourself again once the initial infection has cleared, there are a few precautions that should always be taken:
  • Don't share towels, pillows, or washcloths with others, especially if they have conjunctivitis or other viral and bacterial conditions such as cold sores.
  • Change pillowcases and wash towels and bedding frequently.
  • Use immune system boosters to boost your immune system to help prevent infection as well as to encourage faster healing.
  • As much as you may want to, refrain from touching your eyes! If your eyes are itchy, rather use a clean compress for quick relief.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly before and after touching your eyes.
  • Seek medical attention if you develop conjunctivitis when you have a cold sore as herpes simplex related conjunctivitis is a serious condition.
  • Discard any makeup used when you had conjunctivitis as it may be contaminated and this is an easy way to spread it again.
  • If you wear contact lenses, switch to glasses until your eyes have completely healed.
  • Wear sunglasses outdoors as sunlight irritates pink eye.
Home Remedies to Cure Pink Eye
Colloidal Silver -- You can buy colloidal silver in a spray bottle. Spray into your eyes two to three times a day. You can also put one or two drops of colloidal silver in your eyes two or three times a day if you can't find a spray bottle. Colloidal silver has been known to cure pink eye as quickly as six hours. Be sure to use a few days after healing to be safe.
Castor Oil -- Put one to two drops in your eyes two times each day. Your eyes will get better within one day, but you should keep using it for a few more days to make sure it is completely gone. Your eyes will get blurry from the oil but it does not sting or hurt and in fact can be soothing. Castor oil is an antimicrobal and is excellent for healing.
Sea Salt -- Put a teaspoon of sea salt in one cup warm water and stir until dissolved. You can use an eye dropper and put two to three drops of the saline solution you have created directly into your eye or you can use a cotton ball. Saturate the cotton ball and place it on your eye allowing the water to run into your eye. This is a tried and true remedy that has been used for many years and is still a staple in England.
