Tonsil Stone:How to get rid of them

9:08:00 AM
You have probably had tonsil stones without even realizing what they were or why they were in your body. Even though you probably do not realize what tonsil stones are, you should know that it is important to make sure that you deal with them properly so that you can properly take care of the problem before it gets out of hand. Even though the tonsil stones are not something that is going to be dangerous to your health, they can cause problems with bad breath and can irritate the already sensitive skin that is in your tonsil area. Since they can cause so many problems, knowing how to get rid of tonsil stones is something that is important to anyone who has ever suffered from this troubling malady.
What are Tonsil Stones?
However, in order to get rid of them you should first know exactly what tonsil stones are. If you are someone who has every experienced tonsil stones then they are a nuisance that you are not likely to forget. They are found at the back of the mouth near the tonsils, and they are often lodged in the soft tissue in this area, and they appear to be small white stones that are known as tonsilloliths. These stones are formed in the small pockets of the tonsils when bits of food, bacteria, dead white blood cells, and mucous collect.
Removal Options
The mouth is the perfect area for bacteria growth. It is dark, moist, and warm, so this means that it is the perfect place for this material to collect and grow into a formed tonsil stone. This is important to know if you are looking to find out how to get rid of tonsil stones. This is because the easiest way to get rid of tonsil stones is to remove them with your fingers, a Q-tip, or a toothbrush. Once you have pushed the stone from your tonsils, you can quickly spit it out, rinse, and be done with the stone; however, this will not work to help prevent the overall cause of tonsil stones, but it is a way to put an immediate end to the discomfort. Another problem some have with this removal procedure is that if you have a strong gag reflex you could have difficulty getting the tonsil stones out without throwing up.
A second way to get rid of tonsil stones is by using a water jet treatment system. A water jet is a small device that shoots water out of an opening. This water can be used to move water over the tonsilloliths, and once the water gets behind it with enough pressure the stone out of the hole. These water jets can be either manually operated or mechanically operated, but either way something to remember is that you do not need to have the water flow come out of the nozzle at a high rate of speed. Too much pressure on the stone by the water can actually inflame the tissue while at the same time pushing the stone further back into the hole. Make sure that the water is released in a constant steady stream.
If you are looking for a more clinical way to find out how to get rid of tonsil stones, then one approach is antibiotics. This is because the stones appear to be a collection of bacteria, and some doctors have considered prescribing antibiotics as a way to cope with this problem. The main concern is that unless you stay on an antibiotic regimen permanently it is possible that the tonsil stones will reappear once you have finished taking the medicine.
Preventing Tonsil Stones – Tonsilloliths
While these examples are ways of knowing how to get rid of tonsilloliths, there are also ways that you can work to make sure that you do not get tonsil stones in the future. One of the most popular methods of prevention is to use nasal irrigation to help clear out your sinuses. By flushing out the bacteria and mucus that can clog up your nasal passages you can reduce the risk of tonsil stones because you are removing two of the factors that help to build these stones up. Most people do not have a problem with nasal irrigation, but there are some who find it uncomfortable.
One drastic, but guaranteed, way to never have to worry about tonsil stones again is to have a tonsillectomy. Since you no longer have tonsils this method is one way to make sure that you will never have to deal with the troubling stones, but as mentioned above, it is also a rather drastic method because it is a surgical procedure that requires anesthesia. Not to mention that most people are not affected by tonsil stones until they are adult and a tonsillectomy is something that is most commonly done when before adolescence. So, if you are an adult who is having problems with tonsil stones surgery is probably out of the question because of the high risk of complications that this procedure raises in adulthood.
A second surgical procedure that is used to get rid of tonsil stones is known as laser cryptolysis. This is done when your doctor burns your tonsils with a laser. This burn will cause the tonsils to build up scar tissue in the area where the stones are formed. This scarring will then close up the holes, thereby taking away the most common location that stones are found. Even though it is considered to be a much safer procedure than a complete tonsillectomy, it is still a surgical process, so you will need to make sure to discuss this thoroughly with your doctor if it is something that you are considering.

5 Home Remedies To Cure Bad Breath

8:52:00 AM
Bad breath, gingivitis, gum disease, halitosis... Smells like a potent mix of 'Phew! What died in here...'? But for those who have to put up and live with it as part of their daily routine, it can be a demeaning (and avoidable) statement, to say the least.
Especially after you've tried the dozens upon dozens of mouthwashes, mint gums, tongue cleaners / scrapers, and an assortment of "bad breath kits" advertised on late night TV shows... the problem either 'subsides' for a few hours to be temporarily forgotten -- until someone standing close to you, in the midst of an otherwise normal conversation, suddenly stops and gives you that peculiar 'what's that smell?' kind of look.
And the next thing you know you're frantically reaching out for that box of mint as if you just had an asthma attack. Let's face it, bad breath can be worse than an asthma attack. Why? Because, it stinks!
Often, the person with bad breath doesn't really know that he or she has got bad breath. It takes someone else pointing it out to them, which makes it all the more embarrassing.
So why don't we put a stop to it once and for all? Wouldn't we just LOVE to have a cure for bad breath that worked well -- and lasted longer? Sort of like sex, you know. Something closer to a permanent cure so you can popping in a (sugar-free?) candy gum every time someone reminds you of it?
Well, the Chinese discovered a bad breath remedy much before dental implants, cosmetic dentistry and 'my dog has bad breath too' kinds of confessions. Their cure was almost 4,000 years ago, and they were simply herbs from the the neighboring forest! Sort of like jogging down to New York's Central Park and picking up a bunch of herbs to cure a Wall Street broker's bad breath on the trading floor. The Chinese found their herbs freely on the forest floor, in clear abundance, and with no dental treatments or surgeries to pay for.
The ancient Indian science of Ayurveda, too, prescribed its own recommendations for curing bad breath, in parallel to what the Chinese believed. Their inspiration too was the forest, so they called them forest remedies, herbal remedies or home remedies, which, in modern times, has even morphed into more accessible expression of 'kitchen remedies'. Because you could cure bad breath using herbs commonly found in the Indian kitchen. No need to go hunting around amongst the forest bushes.
But the fact is, 'kitchen remedies' is a generic term, and these are herbs are easily available in any kitchen (or garden) of the world. Here are 4 of the simplest home remedies you can use right now to cure bad breath:
1. Instead of your regular toothpaste, use a herbal toothpaste that contains neem extracts in it. Scientifically known as Azadirachta Indica or Melia Azadirachta, the neem is a semi-evergreen tree whose trunk yields a tenacious gum and seeds yield an aromatic oil. It's the leaves whose extract help keep your breath much longer.
2. Instead of your regular mouthwash, use a solution of neem dissolved in warm water as an alternative mouthwash. It's more effective, not too harsh on your teeth and gums, and is a natural treatment for daily oral hygiene. Use this natural mouthwash solution 4 times a day.
3. There are two other kinds of mouthwash you can add to cure bad breath - (a) Boil corriander leaves in water and use the resulting liquid-extract as a mouthwash. (b) Aloe vera mixed with honey and cold water is a good mouthwash for chronic bad breath.
4. Think peppermint is the only mouth freshener? Here are two more to chew on -- green cardamom and cloves.
5. If your bad breath problem is due to tonsillitis, sinusitis or a nasty cold, edible camphor is a very effective throat stimulant. It's a sublime substance that simply melts away clogged mucus, giving a clarity and freshness that extends much beyond your throat. It's like vacuuming your own mouth with one of Nature's most effective nasal decongester... ENT therapy on the cheap!

How You Can Cure Bad Breath From Stomach Problems

9:30:00 AM
Many people are actually surprised to learn that bad breath doesn't always stem from the mouth itself but is caused by digestive disorders and other such issues. Conditions such as acid reflux disease, an obstructed bowel, diverticulitis, and just plain indigestion can cause chronic halitosis. But how are these conditions connected, and better yet, how can you cure bad breath from stomach problems?
Most stomach and digestive conditions that cause bad breath do so because of bacteria and harmful enzymes that get absorbed into the system and then released through the breath. In the case of acid reflux disease, those stomach acids can work their way all the back up into the throat and then are expelled in the breath.
In order to cure bad breath from stomach problems you need to understand what condition you have that's causing the problem and then address is appropriately. For instance, if it's acid reflux you need to make adjustments to your diet or get some medication to calm those stomach acids. You can't cure bad breath from stomach problems by just covering it up with gum or mints; once that smell from these products wear off, the bad breath is still present. If you have chronic indigestion you may want to see your doctor to get diagnosed correctly.

Sometimes just understanding the problem doesn't necessarily mean that you can correct it that easily, especially if it's a condition that you're trying to treat and still have not quite fixed. In order to cure bad breath from stomach problems without being able to fix those problems, you need to make sure that you're following a good program of proper oral hygiene. Never neglect brushing and flossing, and of course rinsing afterwards.
You might not be able to cure bad breath from stomach problems by doing this, but you can make sure that it's not any worse. Keep yourself adequately hydrated at all times so that you can neutralize stomach acids and help your mouth keep itself clean. Saliva is a great cleanser for the mouth and when your mouth is dry, your breath is going to be worse.
There is no shame in asking your doctor for help in being able to cure bad breath from stomach problems. He or she may have seen this type of problem brought on by your condition before and may be able to recommend a permanent solution.

How to Cure Bad Breath in 3 Days

8:00:00 AM
As most of us have experienced, bad breath is both annoying and disturbing for both you and the people you interact with. Let's just take a look at some of the situations in which bad breath can spell disaster:
- Job interviews
- Business meetings
- Social interaction at work
- Dating
- Any first impression
Bad breath is not just annoying and inconvenient. It can prevent you from getting a job, it can ruin your date and people will always keep their distance to you in social situations. See the problem? Of course, there are cures out there: chewing gum, mouth wash and even alcohol. However, these «cures» only work in the short term and doesn't deal with the cause of the problem. I'll get back to this later in this article.
Let's first take a look at what's causing bad breath: bacteria. The average human mouth is literally infested with bacteria: some are good for your breath, but some can cause havoc to it. These bacteria can be divided into two categories: the aerobic bacteria and the anaerobic bacteria.
The aerobic bacteria are good for your overall health and thrive in oxygen-rich environments, while the anaerobic bacteria thrive in oxygen-poor environments. Studies have shown that anaerobic bacteria are the bad guys behind almost 90 % of all bad breath problems.
The reason is quite simple. These bacteria produce waste products in your mouth known as sulfur compounds. It's these compounds that produce that foul odor known as bad breath or halitosis, as a dentist would call it.
Most of the bad breath remedies on the market today are designed to kill these anaerobic bacteria, using chemicals like:
- Oxychlorine
- Chlorine dioxide
- Zinc compounds
- Alcohol and other similar antiseptics
However, while killing off the anaerobic bacteria in your mouth, these chemicals also tend to cause dehydration in your mouth. Saliva is the body's natural defense against the very same bacteria because it is oxygen-rich and therefore makes the going tough for the bad breath bacteria. When your mouth is dehydrated by these chemicals, it can actually make the problem worse in the long term! If you really want to get rid of halitosis, you will need to control the anaerobic bacteria without dehydrating the mouth and robbing it of saliva. Ironically, this rules out most of today's remedies against bad breath.
One of the most effective, quickest and cheapest methods for curing bad breath is to make your very own mouth wash using natural ingredients that kill off those anaerobic bacteria. Making a month's supply of this doesn't have to cost more than a dollar or two!
Another great method to get rid off those foul bacteria is to «starve» them. What I'm talking about? Those «bad breath bacteria» are feeding off small food particles in your mouth that are left behind after eating. Therefore, brushing and rinsing your teeth after every meal or snack, you will starve those little devils!
Last, but not least: changing your diet can also help fight those bacteria permanently. Caffeine, alcohol and food/drinks made with synthetic ingredients are all bad for your breath because they can lead to dehydration. Besides, coffee breath doesn't smell too good to start with.
Curing bad breath isn't just another urban legend. You can end the problem with halitosis without spending a fortune or waiting for weeks for the results to come. It's all about doing it the natural way.
